Six hospitals within the Sutter Health Plus network achieved recognition today as among the best hospitals in California for 2016-17 by U.S. News & World Report. The annual rankings rate top hospitals in the state and in major metropolitan regions, as well as top hospitals according to their performance across 25 specialties, procedures, and conditions.
Sutter Health Plus network hospitals recognized among the top 50 in the state and top 10 in their metro area include:
San Francisco metro area
- California Pacific Medical Center
- Mills-Peninsula Health Services
- Sequoia Hospital (Redwood City)
Sacramento metro area
- Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento
- Sutter Roseville Medical Center
San Jose metro area
- El Camino Hospital
In addition, Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento, received “high performer” recognition in eight adult procedures/conditions; California Pacific Medical Center received “high performer” in five adult procedures/conditions; and both Sutter Roseville Medical Center and Mills-Peninsula Health Services received “high performer” recognition in four adult procedures/conditions. Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, Eden Medical Center, and Memorial Medical Center, Modesto, received “high performer” recognition in three procedures/conditions each.
Non-Sutter hospitals in the Sutter Health Plus network receiving high performer recognition include: El Camino Hospital, eight procedures/conditions; Sequoia Hospital, five procedures/conditions; and St. Joseph’s Medical Center, one procedure/condition.
The U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals survey ranked hospitals according to reputation, mortality, patient safety and other areas, including nurse staffing and technology.
