A Road to Recovery with Ria Health

At Sutter Health Plus, we believe caring for mental health is as important as physical health. Members’ coverage includes benefits for mental health and substance use disorder (MH/SUD) services through U.S. Behavioral Health Plan, California (USBHPC).

A new offering through USBHPC, a subsidiary of Optum, is Ria Health — an innovative telehealth alcohol treatment program that uses medications, online counseling and support to help members age 18 years and older achieve lasting results. Ria Health’s flexibility makes it ideal for people with busy schedules, and those who don’t feel traditional programs or rehab are the right fit.

Members can take Ria Health’s short alcohol quiz to learn where they fall on the drinking spectrum and if they might benefit from quitting or cutting back on alcohol.

Heavy alcohol use can increase risk for health and other consequences. Cutting down on drinking even by small amounts can have benefits to mental, physical and emotional health and overall well-being. Ria Health’s program provides members with tools and support that guide them in their goals to drink less and live better. Best of all, everything is done privately from home or anywhere using the Ria app.

How Does Ria Health Work?

  • Physician guidance through expert care and support, as well as treatment plans.
  • FDA-approved medications* that reduce alcohol cravings and help people quit or drink less.
  • Coaching support through weekly telehealth meetings with a certified recovery coach.
  • Helpful digital tools including a Bluetooth-enabled breathalyzer and smartphone app to track progress — at no additional cost.
  • An online group support through regular meetings facilitated by a recovery coach.
