Phil Jackson, Sutter Health Plus CEO, joined a panel of healthcare leaders from across the region — including Rachael McKinney, Sutter Health Greater Sacramento Market President — at the Sacramento Business Journal’s 2024 Healthcare Leadership Forum to discuss what is on the horizon in this ever-changing industry.
Topics ranged from construction, facility and workforce plans in the greater Sacramento area to one of the industry’s most pressing pain points: making healthcare more affordable and accessible for all segments of the population.
“As much as we like to see services grow — it’s good for the economy; it’s good for our health — particularly in this state, it’s very expensive to serve the Northern California population,” said Jackson. “We can’t keep shifting onto employers, because what are employers doing now? They’re shifting the cost onto their employees.”
