Accessing Same-day Care with Video Visits

From virtual work meetings to video chats with family and friends, people are embracing new ways to connect with each other. For some, accessing healthcare through a video visit has helped save time and money—especially with the rising cost of gas.

With a video visit, Sutter Health Plus members can access same-day care for everyday health needs from a clinician in real-time, from home, work, or on-the-go. This may be particularly convenient for members who are not nearby a provider’s office or seeking quick care after regular business hours or on weekends.

During a video visit, clinicians can diagnose, treat, and prescribe medications for a variety of non-urgent, minor health conditions and illnesses, including:

  • Allergies
  • Cough or cold
  • Fever
  • Flu
  • Nausea
  • Rashes and Insect Bites
  • Respiratory Problems
  • Sinus Infection
  • Sore Throat

Video visits are covered at the same cost share a member would pay for an equivalent in-person provider visit, or lower depending on plan design, when provided by a participating provider for a covered benefit. In some cases, a member may be directed to a more appropriate level of care, such as in-person care at their primary care physician’s (PCP) office, an urgent care facility, or an emergency room.

Getting Started with Video Visits
Sutter Health Plus members can schedule a video visit with their computer or mobile device through My Heath Online (MHO). For the best experience, connect using a smartphone or tablet by downloading the MHO mobile app from the App Store or Google Play.

Once logged in, select the “Appointments and Visits” icon and follow the instructions for scheduling a video visit appointment with the appropriate provider type. Before the scheduled appointment, return to the “Appointments and Visits” menu and scroll down to complete the “eZ Arrival” and follow the prompts to begin the video visit.

Members can schedule video visit appointments with the following providers:

  • Video Visits with a Sutter Clinician – All members have access to same-day video visits with a Sutter clinician, available daily through MHO for members 18 months of age or older from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and most holidays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Video Visits with a PCP – Many PCPs, including pediatricians, offer video visits for routine to complex health needs through MHO. Hours can vary by provider, and a video visit may not be available same day. Members should check MHO to see if their PCP offers video visits. If their PCP does not participate in MHO, they should contact their PCP to find out if other virtual care options are offered.
